Just a Reminder ~ the Sunday School kids want to adopt angels from the Angel Tree this year! There is a box in the back of the church if you would like to donate money to help purchase gifts. We are hoping that each kid will be able to adopt an angel! We will be taking all the kids shopping on Friday, Dec. 6th to purchase the gifts and they will show everyone at church that following Sunday what they picked out for their angel before delivering the gifts. Feel free to contact Jodi if you have any questions!


Hope to see everyone on Saturday night at 6:00 for our first Saturday night service of the year, which will be led by member's of the congregation!

Saturday Night Service & Thrivent Choice Dollars

Saturday night church services are beginning this week. Whenever, there is to be a 8:00 service we will be having service the night before at 6:00 pm. There is no Sunday School this week, but normally would be held prior to the service at 5:00 pm.

Also, if you have not already directed your Thrivent Choice Dollars to Immanuel, please do so as soon as possible so we do not miss out on those dollars! Even if you chose in the past to have your dollars automatically directed to Immanuel you will need to either go online or call Thrivent to have them directed to our congregation. Thrivent's phone number is 800-847-4836 and mention "Thrivent Choice Dollars." If you would rather direct them online it is easy!! Just go to www.thrivent.com and log in up in the top right corner. After you are logged in on the right hand side it will show you the amount of Thrivent Choice Dollars that you can direct. Click on that and then it will open up a new page to search for our congregation. Under organization type Immanuel and Carthage, SD for the city and then click search. It will then bring up our congregation and click "Direct Choice Dollars Now!"

A community Thanksgiving service will be held Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at Endeavor Presbyterian in Fedora! All confirmation students are asked to attend this service or another Thanksgiving service for confirmation this week.

Thankoffering

WELCA will have their Thankoffering service on November 24 during the 11 am service.

Food Drive Scavenger Hunt

THANK YOU FOR DONATING!

What an amazing night...so many generous friends! We started around 4:20 east of the church and 80+ miles later we finished in Huron around 6:30. We received donations from over 30 families and everyone was so generous! The food pantry was very excited to receive all of our donations. After we unloaded all the food the Captain showed us where all the food is stored and what goes into each basket that is given to the families. Each basket is supposed to last them two months. He also told us all of the different programs that the Salvation Army offers such as the Christmas basket & Angel Tree!

                                           

They were as follows: 22 soups, 16 cans of fruit, 27 vegetables, 6 canned meat, 3 tuna/sardines, 20 bottles of honey, 6 peanut butters, 2 jelly, 2 pancake mixes, 1 syrup, 3 oatmeals, 13 cereals, 24 rice & pastas, 2 dried soup mixes, 2 instant potatoes, 4 rice-a-roni, 11 macaroni & cheese, 8 hamburger helper, 10 stuffing mixes, 2 apples, 14 juices, 8 cake mixes, 1 can of frosting, 1 brown sugar, 1 flour, 1 dressing, 1 baking soda, 1 mustard, 2 puddings and monetary donations. They collected 219 items to earn a total of 11,225 scavenger hunt points (625 more than last year) and are challenging themselves to beat it again next year!

Just a Reminder

This Friday is the Scavenger Hunt Food Drive! We will start north of the church at 4:30 and work our way towards Huron. Will meet the Captain at the Salvation Army at 8:00 pm to drop off the food. If you are not going to be home & would like to make a donation contact Jodi to make arrangements!

There will be no church service at Immanuel this Sunday, but everyone is encouraged to attend Trinity in Carthage at 9:30 for Cameroon Sunday.

A quick quarterly meeting will be held following the 11:00 service on November 24th.

WELCA meeting & November newsletter

WELCA will meet following the 8 am service on November 10th.  We will be discussing the disbursement of funds and open WELCA board positions.  The open positions are Treasurer, Vice President and altar guild.  We will also need a nominating committee.  Please consider volunteering! Sunday, November 3rd announcements

Today in our service we celebrated the confirming of Elisebeth Dickson.

Immanuel's 4th-7th grade Sunday School class will be doing a scavenger hunt food drive on Friday, November 15th. We will start east of the church around 4:30 pm and will work our way towards Huron. The collected items will be donated to the Salvation Army Food Pantry. The youth will have a list of items to earn them scavenger hunt points, but any non-perishable items that you donate will be more than appreciated. Last year, they collected 10,600 scavenger hunt points so they hope to get even more this year. If you will not be home, but would like to donate you may leave items at the church or talk to Jodi to make other arrangements. Thank you in advance for helping us "Can Hunger!"

Saturday, November 16th, the parish ladies are planning to travel to Joy Ranch near Watertown. So far 12 ladies are planning to go. Please let Judy Wormstadt know by Nov. 6th if you are interested in going. All are welcome and each person will be responsible for their own brunch cost at $10.55.

There will be no church service held at Immanuel on Nov. 17th. All three churches will join in one service for Cameroon Sunday at Trinity in Carthage at 9:30. A special offering will raise funds to put roofs on churches in Cameroon. Eugene & Mary Weerts will be joining us to share their experiences of traveling to Cameroon. The Sunday School children of Parish Lutheran will sing a couple of African songs and there will be other special music. A silent auction of items from Africa will provide additional funds for this project. Come and See!

There will be no Sunday School at Immanuel on Sunday, November 17th because of the joint service so please have your children practice their parts and songs for the Christmas Eve program.

There will also be no Sunday School on Sunday, December 1st because of Thanksgiving weekend!
