Click here for Armand Peskey's prayer service and funeral information.
Reminder: The Immanuel youth will be beginning their scavenger hunt food drive at 4:00 this afternoon. If you know you will not be home please let Jodi know or if you have something but will not be home either let Jodi know where it will be or bring it to church on Sunday. The Salvation Army Food Pantry is not able to open up for us tonight now so we will have all of the food at church on Sunday (no food items that need to be refrigerated please) so you can all see just how generous our church family is. We will deliver the food on Monday!

October Parish Newsletter & Scavenger Hunt Food Drive
Click here to view the October 2017 Parish newsletter.
The 5th-8th grade Sunday School students will be doing a scavenger hunt food drive again on Friday, October 13th. We will start by the church around 4:30 pm and will work our way south around the country and end up in Huron by 7:00 pm. The collected items will be donated to the Salvation Army Food Pantry. The youth will have a list of items to earn them scavenger hunt points, but any non-perishable items (please nothing that needs to remain cold...some items are in our vehicle for 3.5 hours) that you donate will be more than appreciated. Last year, they collected 12,975 scavenger hunt points so they hope to get even more this year. If you will not be home, but would like to donate you may leave items at the church or talk to Jodi to make other arrangements. Also, if you know you will not be home please let Jodi know so we do not stop at your house.
Thank you in advance for helping us "Can Hunger!"
Note from Pastor Josh:
The shooting in Las Vegas has left me feeling confused, in shock, angry, and heartbroken. I have, several times, turned to God in prayer but had difficulty finding words. If you feel this way now, or for times when you may, I have a couple suggestions. Take them or leave them, but here they are.
1) Read the Psalms. Open to the psalms and read until you find a verse that speaks the words you cannot muster.
Psalm 39:12 is where I landed tonight.
Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and listen to my cry;
do not shut your ears to my weeping.
For I am but a sojourner with you,
a passing guest,
as all my forebearers were.
2) Read prayers written by others. Our hymnal has a treasury of prayers written for various circumstances on pgs. 72-87. Here are a few prayers for healing.
Healing for those in affliction
Lord Christ, you came into the world as one of us, and suffered as we do. As we go through the trials of life, help us to realize that you are with us at all times and in all things; that we have no secrets from you; and that your loving grace enfolds us for eternity. In the security of your embrace we pray.
Amen.
For emergency workers
God of earth and air, water and fire, height and depth, we pray for those who work in danger, who rush in to bring hope and help and comfort when others flee to safety, whose mission is to seek and save, serve and protect, and whose presence embodies the protection of the Good Shepherd. Give them caution and concern for one another, so that in safety they may do what must be done, under your watchful eye. Support them in their courage and dedication that they may continue to save lives, ease pain, and mend the torn fabric of lives and social order; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
For Protection through life
O God, full of compassion, we commit and commend ourselves to you, in whom we live and move and have our being. Be the goal of our pilgrimage, and our rest by the way. Give us refuge from the turmoil of worldly distractions beneath the shadow of your wings. Let our hearts, so often a sea of restless waves, find peace in you, O God; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
And I am praying for all of you this night, my dear friends.
Dear Jesus, as a hen covers her chicks with her wings to keep them safe, protect us this night under your golden wings; for your mercy's sake.
Amen.
