Photos from Christmas Eve

All of the Sunday School youth and teachers would like to thank everyone who was able to join us on Christmas Eve for our Sunday School program! We all had a great time together celebrating the birth of Jesus...the real reason for the season. We also would like to thank everyone for their generous contributions for the offering that evening. Because of all of you we will be able to send a large amount of items to the 153rd engineer battalion who are deployed.

Angel Tree Gifts and Caroling

Had a great morning/afternoon with this great group of kids! Snow wasn't going to stop our fun!! Thanks to our amazing church members at Immanuel Lutheran and Thrivent we were able to buy 17 angel tree gifts for kids and then 4 angel tree gifts for senior citizens. All the shopping made us hungry so we ate at Godfathers and then went Christmas caroling at Stoneybrook & then Armand & Lenora Peskey's. We planned to make a couple other stops caroling, but with the weather we decided we better all head home. Thanks again for supporting our youth and helping them with this great cause!

Scavenger Hunt Food Drive - THANK YOU!!!

Kelby, Lexi, Kali, Kera, Kenna, Katie & Wyatt
What an amazing night...so many generous friends! We started around 4:30 north of the church and 80+ miles later we finished in Huron around 7:00. We had a yummy supper at Godfather's and then delivered the food at 8:00...they were expecting us! We received donations from over 30 families and everyone was so generous! They told us that we collected more food than most of the in town food drives collect...so they were super excited and made the kids super excited too! After unloading the items they gave us a tour of the Salvation Army and we got to see all of the food in the food pantry & freezers. They also explained how they distribute the food that they receive.

They were as follows: 15 soups, 2 cans of fruit, 68 cans of vegetables, 35 cans of meat/beef stew, 5 cans tuna, 3 spaghetti sauces, 2 boxes of tissues, shampoo and soap, 6 honey, 4 peanut butter, 2 jelly, 7 pancake mixes, 1 syrup, 10 oatmeal, 2 cereals, 2 Jell-o, 1 shredded cheese, 34 boxes stuffing, 12 bags of dry rice/pasta/beans, 2 dried soup mix, 13 instant potatoes, 3 boxes Rice-a-Roni, 13 macaroni & cheese, 2 Hamburger Helper, 6 canned milks, 9 cake mixes, 7 flour/sugar/brown sugar, 9 ketchup/mustard/mayo/dressing/bbq, 2 coffees, 1 fruit juice, 8 kool-aid mixes, 1 taco shell, 1 popcorn, 1 candy, 1 fruit, 2 gravy mixes and $25.00. They collected 264 items (102 more than last year) to earn a total of 12,975 scavenger hunt points, 2,940 more points than last year!! We also applied to be a Thrivent Action Team and were approved so we will be receiving $250 debit card to purchase more food items for the food pantry as soon as we receive it!!!

Last Night's Saturday Night Service

Sunday School Youth practicing with the Prairie Praise Band before last night's service

"Ho-Ho-Ho-Hosanna, Ha-Ha-Ha-Halleluia"

Carrying the Palm Branches

Singing "Blessed Be Your Name" during worship
Last night was a wonderful night to be a member of the Immaunuel Lutheran family. The youth made our annual Resurrection Rolls during Sunday School (marshmallow-Jesus, melted butter-oils, cinnamon & sugar-spices, crescent rolls-white cloth and the oven-tomb....when we opened the tomb after they were baked the marshmallow was gone-Jesus had risen). The Prairie Praise band led the worship and the youth waved the palm branches at the beginning of the service and they helped end the service with joining the band in singing "Blessed Be Your Name!" We all got a chance to meet a pastoral candidate, Josh Knudsen and his family as well as end the evening with a yummy potluck and fellowship!

Maundy Thursday - 5:30 pm at Trinity and 7:00 pm at First
Good Friday Service - 7:00 pm at Immanuel

Pastoral Candidate and Easter Breakfast

The Prairie Parish council met Sunday night to discuss the process of interviewing and visiting with new graduate, Josh Knudsen, who showed an interest in our churches.  After talking to him over the phone, we have scheduled a visit from him and his wife on this Saturday and Sunday. Since they are going to have a second child in early May, they are in a time crunch to get this going since traveling might be a problem for her.  They will tour the Carthage and Artesian churches and the parsonage
on Saturday afternoon and come to our church for our 6:00 pm service with our wonderful band playing for us!  Since Josh and his wife love music they should enjoy that. We are also going to “WOW” them with one of our delicious potluck suppers after the service.  So everyone be sure to come and meet Josh and his wife and bring along something delicious to share!

Immanuel's Easter SonRise Service will be at 6:30 Easter morning with breakfast and fellowship to follow. Please bring eggs to boil or egg bake and rolls to share! The Easter breakfast work groups are as follows!
Work group #1----Decorate
Work group # 2----Clean up
