We had a very successful night. We started around 4:00 east
of the church and 61 miles later we finished in Huron a little after 7:00. We
received donations from over 30 families and everyone was so generous! The food
pantry was very excited to receive all of our donations. We were told that atleast
10 food baskets are passed out each day at the food pantry. After we unloaded
all the food the Captain gave us a tour of the Salvation Army. He showed us where
all of the donations are sorted before being put in the thrift store, the
thrift store, the tigers den, cafeteria and the chapel. He also told us all of
the different programs that the Salvation Army offers such as the Christmas
basket (Angel Tree).
They were as follows: 14 soups, 9 cans of fruit, 91 vegetables,
22 canned meat, 7 tuna, 16 bottles of honey, 1 peanut butter, 1 jelly, 2
pancake mixes, 2 syrups, 3 oatmeals, 5 cereals, 12 rice & pastas, 4
macaroni & cheese, 2 hamburger helper, 4 juices, 4 baby foods, 4 jellos, 5
stuffing mixes, 2 taco shells, 1 salad dressing, 1 stir fry sauce, 1 salsa, 2
spaghetti sauce, 1 boxed potatoes, 2 olives, 1 popcorn, 1 evaporated milk, 2
pie fillings, 1 box of Saltines, 1 can of pumpkin, 4 brownie mixes, 1 condensed
milk, 1 broth and monetary donations. They collected 215 items to earn a total
of 10600 scavenger hunt points (1925 more than last year) and are challenging
themselves to beat it again next year!
Thank you,
Keistan, Lauren, Gavin, Kyle, Jodi, Stephanie &
