WELCA meeting and Angel Tree
THANK YOU SO MUCH
for YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS!!
On Friday, December 6, Sunday School children and their
parents purchased items for kids on the
Salvation Army Angel Tree. The Sunday School children asked you guys for donations and since you were all so generous, they were each able to adopt an
angel that was their age and purchase a gift for them. The kids had so much fun
picking out presents and learned how important giving to others was! Today, they got to show & tell the congregation what they
purchased for their angel before delivering the presents tomorrow. They cannot wait
until next year to do it again.
Thanks Again...your generosity is greatly appreciated!!
** There will be a short WELCA meeting following the 11 am service on December 15. We will be voting on WELCA board officers for the 2014.
The new board members are as follows:
Vice President: Deanna Moeding
Treasurer: Judy Dubro
Altar Guild: Donna Dickson
Immanuel Church Council will be held this Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 pm.

Saturday Night Service & Thrivent Choice Dollars
Saturday night church services are beginning this week. Whenever, there is to be a 8:00 service we will be having service the night before at 6:00 pm. There is no Sunday School this week, but normally would be held prior to the service at 5:00 pm.
Also, if you have not already directed your Thrivent Choice Dollars to Immanuel, please do so as soon as possible so we do not miss out on those dollars! Even if you chose in the past to have your dollars automatically directed to Immanuel you will need to either go online or call Thrivent to have them directed to our congregation. Thrivent's phone number is 800-847-4836 and mention "Thrivent Choice Dollars." If you would rather direct them online it is easy!! Just go to www.thrivent.com and log in up in the top right corner. After you are logged in on the right hand side it will show you the amount of Thrivent Choice Dollars that you can direct. Click on that and then it will open up a new page to search for our congregation. Under organization type Immanuel and Carthage, SD for the city and then click search. It will then bring up our congregation and click "Direct Choice Dollars Now!"
A community Thanksgiving service will be held Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at Endeavor Presbyterian in Fedora! All confirmation students are asked to attend this service or another Thanksgiving service for confirmation this week.

Food Drive Scavenger Hunt
THANK
YOU FOR DONATING!
What an amazing night...so many generous friends! We
started around 4:20 east of the church and 80+ miles later we finished in Huron
around 6:30. We received donations from over 30 families and everyone was so
generous! The food pantry was very excited to receive all of our donations.
After we unloaded all the food the Captain showed us where all the food is
stored and what goes into each basket that is given to the families. Each
basket is supposed to last them two months. He also told us all of the
different programs that the Salvation Army offers such as the Christmas basket &
Angel Tree!
They were as follows: 22 soups, 16 cans of fruit, 27
vegetables, 6 canned meat, 3 tuna/sardines, 20 bottles of honey, 6 peanut
butters, 2 jelly, 2 pancake mixes, 1 syrup, 3 oatmeals, 13 cereals, 24 rice
& pastas, 2 dried soup mixes, 2 instant potatoes, 4 rice-a-roni, 11
macaroni & cheese, 8 hamburger helper, 10 stuffing mixes, 2 apples, 14
juices, 8 cake mixes, 1 can of frosting, 1 brown sugar, 1 flour, 1 dressing, 1
baking soda, 1 mustard, 2 puddings and monetary donations. They collected 219
items to earn a total of 11,225 scavenger hunt points (625 more than last year)
and are challenging themselves to beat it again next year!
Thank you,
Keistan, Lauren, Kyle, Tessah, Katie, Jodi & Stephanie

Thoughts & Prayers for Rick & LeShea
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rick, LeShea & family during this very difficult time after the loss of Rick's mother, Maryrose Avery.
Maryrose's Obituary
The congregation also received a thank you card from Nick & Tari (Zeeck) Heitman. Tari wrote the following note.
"There's No Place Like Home!!"
"Our words cannot express how grateful and thankful we are to all of my home church family and friends! We've had quite a bit of nasty unexpecteds this last month, but your kindness and generosities are very humbly and very much unexpected happily! A 'thank you' card does not truly express how appreciative we are of your donations and matching funds! From hotel room and food expenses and the mounting hospital charges we will definitely have use for them. THANK YOU!!
Nick has made great strides in recovering! Thanks be to God and all of your prayers! Rest, therapy & patience are our only battles to conquer today!"
Thanks Again!!

Sunday School Family Fun Night
Sunday, July 14th, most of the Immanuel Sunday School families got together to have a family fun night! Everyone gathered at the church for a potluck supper. After supper, they made baked smores (since it was suppose to rain) by putting a marshmallow & piece of chocolate in a crescent roll and rolling them up tightly...after baking they were delicious! Then they broke into small groups and went on a bible scavenger hunt. They had to look up different scriptures in the bible and then find outside what it was talking about. Such as a twig, leaf, something that reminded them of Jesus, pine cone, key, etc. After they found everything on their list they got to pick out a prize and then spend the rest of the evening playing together! A fun time had by all!!

Friendship Circle Reminder
This is just a reminder for those who signed up to be included in the friendship circle ~
When you have been "friended", select the name of someone you would like to friend off the Master List. (which is posted on the bulletin board). Cross that name off the list. You have 2 weeks to friend that person. Think of something which you can do for that person in the way of "friending" them. It might be a dozen homemade cookies, a few wildflowers, a pie, a nice letter, something you purchased or made. There is no amount that needs to be spent--no right thing to do. It is all up to you. The person you picked then has 2 weeks to friend someone else. And so this will continue until everyone on the list has been friended by someone. At the end of the year maybe we can have a party and discuss whether this is a good idea to continue or see if it needs some adjusting. Have fun with this!

An article that I saw tonight and wanted to share with everyone!
Dear Parents with Young Children in Church
I thought the article was a great reminder for all of us with young children to remember that what we are doing is really, really important! I definitely have my rough mornings with my children in church some Sundays, but luckily I am surrounded by fellow members (young and old) who are happy to see children growing their faith in our church.
Don't forget we have Bible School this week, Wednesday - Friday from 10:00 to 2:00 and you are all welcome to stop in and see the excitement in the children's eyes as they grow their faith even more! It might be a little crazy at times, but we will all be having a great time together! Also, please join us for our program on Sunday, June 2nd at 9:30. The children are always so excited to show everyone what they learned and sing fun songs! We will also be having cookies and bars downstairs following the program. Hope you can all join us!
Have a great week ~ Jodi
